Observation 11531: Pseudoclitocybe cyathiformis (Bull.) Singer

When: 2008-09-19

Collection location: Clinton, Washington, USA [Click for map]

Who: Sam Linse (BearwoodSam)

No specimen available

I know this is a horribly ratty looking specimen, but when examining it I realized it must have been quite beautiful. Found in duff among rotted conifer and alder debris. I tried for a spore sample, but it pretty much dissolved. The smudge it did make was chocolate brown. The stem is hollow and both the white flesh and gills are thin.

Used references: Used the dark brown cap, white flesh, slightly decurrent gills, thin flesh and thin gills to come up with this in Matchmaker. Any thoughts?
