THALLUS: closely appressed, light grey, flat to slightly concave at tips, abundant white pruina near tips, abundant conspicuous white maculae except at tips, white below w/ white rhizines, K+y
MEDULLA: white, K+y
APOTHECIA: abundant, black disk w/ abundant white pruina

Pruinose, maculate Physcia with K+y medulla on trees is usually P. aipolia.
