Observation 11662: Candelaria

When: 2008-09-29

Collection location: Southeast Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]

Who: Daniel B. Wheeler (Tuberale)

No specimen available

In the continuing sharing of my ignorance, here is a freshly observed lichen. This is tiny, less than 1/2 inch across, and difficult to focus on because of its size. Color is greenish-golden, and the underside looks the same.

Recognized by sight: Not sure what else it could be with that size, that non-orange color, those obvious ascending little lobes. Probably C. pacifica, but C. pacifica and C. concolor were only recently distinguished, so none of the range maps show it.
