Observation 11713: Hypogymnia (Nyl.) Nyl.

When: 2008-09-30

Collection location: Southeast Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]

Who: Daniel B. Wheeler (Tuberale)

No specimen available

Observed at Portland Adventist Hospital. Growing on a very wet tree trunk, which might explain why the branches of this lichen look so plump compared to other lichens I’ve photographed in the last 5 days. Appearance is similar to a brain coral.
