Observation 11744: Lepista (Fr.) W.G. Sm.

When: 2008-09-29

Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)

No specimen available

Not Lactarius, almost certainly not Russula, but somewhat depressed cap center and fairly large.

In mixed woods.

There were at least five. Two were near some logs. The first four photos are of one of these — yes, it really was leaning at that angle when I found it. The fifth photo is of a second close to the first. The sixth is of another trio some distance away and on the other side of the group of fallen trees. One is almost hidden behind another (at left), and a LWM and a LBM can also bee seen in that photo (no separate observations), for three mushroom species in a single non-wide-field photo.
