Observation 11747: Piptoporus betulinus (Bull.) P. Karst.

When: 2008-09-29

Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)

No specimen available

Got a shot of the underside. No pores discernible, either at the camera’s highest zoom or squinting at it with my eye up close. And I can see things less than 1/10 of a mm wide that way, ordinarily.

It’s a very small, juvenile conk, so perhaps they haven’t developed yet, or are incredibly tiny. It certainly looks like P. betulinus
