Observation 11937: Agaricus augustus Fr.

When: 2008-09-23

Collection location: Plain, Chelan Co., Washington, USA [Click for map]

Who: igorm (igor)

No specimen available

Notes:
This mushroom grows in sandy soil and where the moisture is limited. So often, due to lack of moisture it cracks quickly after fruiting. Also, because it grows in the sandy areas it collects a lot particles and becomes very gritty unless cleaned real good. I scrub the surface of the cap under water and the photo shows the yellow staining caused by the scrubbing.
