Observation 12186: Lichen P. Micheli

When: 2008-10-07

Collection location: Southeast Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]

Who: Daniel B. Wheeler (Tuberale)

No specimen available

Aqua-green tinted whitish lichen. This is an extreme close-up of a 1/2-inch across lichen. Appeared chalky to the naked eye, but close-up shows much better features, and the aqua-green tint. The last photo shows the distinctive white blush around the perimeter of the lichen, which gives it a 2-toned appearance. The camera doesn’t seem to have picked up this variation in color. But the central area is mostly aqua-green to sea-green. The outer edge is white.
