Observation 12254: Amanita amerimuscaria Tulloss & Geml nom. prov.

When: 2008-10-04

Collection location: Forest near Elgin St., Pembroke, Ontario, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Paul Derbyshire (Twizzler)

No specimen available

Another of my mystery muscarioid amanitas, growing in grass near pine. This area seems to have at least two muscarioid species, actual fly agarics that grow near birch and these that grow near pine, are generally more pallid, and often have dingier warts. Both have the muscarioid stem base and, sometimes, skirt-like ring 2/3 of the way up the stem.
