Taste bitter, odor unpleasant. Growing in hemlock woods. There is another one around here that is similar but has a browner cap and grows with hardwoods.

It sure looks a lot like Tricholoma focale, but bitter taste doesn’t fit well. It should have a mild, mealy taste and smell, and it normally grows with pine. Perhaps a hemlock-type with different taste?
