“resin” or colored droplets of watery exudate?

loved the link to your resin drops, Dan. I saw something very similar in a sulphur shelf that I recently photographed in Oakland, during our dry season.
certainly some sort of exudate from the fruit body:

However, I have also seen photos of drops of clear liquid from the underside of a polypore in wet weather, in Oregon, taken by my friend Hugh Smith.

Perhaps Tom Volk can speak to the physiological processes taking place here?

These mushrooms have puzzled me for years. Thanks to mycowalt for the ID!

I think the resin only comes out in dry weather.

Photos are excellent!

No sign of resin, though, so I’m not sure where the ID is coming from, field-character-wise.
