Recognized by sight: Possibly A. sarcoides, but the fruitbodies are generally accompanied with conidial stages, and occurs on more recently cut stumps. There is a difference in spore size too, sarcoides 1-3 septate, 12-18 × 3-6 microns, cylichnium multi-septate, 18-33 × 4-6 microns.
