Observation 12798: Lichen P. Micheli

When: 2008-10-16

Collection location: Cape Lookout State Park, Tillamook Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]

Who: Daniel B. Wheeler (Tuberale)

No specimen available

I don’t know for sure that these globose objects nestled in the crack of a Red alder are lichens. But I don’t know what they would be otherwise, either. Objects were aligned in this crack of the bark, striate up and down; grayish, with reddish hints/splotches; arising above the base of the crack and extending to the sides of the crack. Each semiglobose object is about 1/8th inch across.
