I don’t know if you already know but this is a parasite fungus called Helminthosphaeria clavariarum who frequently infects Clavaria cristata and Clavaria cinerea and sometimes make Clavaria cristata look like Clavaria cinerea.

That purple-blue tint near the base: is that a toning on older specimens, or is that another fungus growing on it?
