Observation 13096: Cortinarius subgenus Phlegmacium (Fr.) Trog

When: 2008-10-23

Collection location: Larch Mountain, Multnomah Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]

Who: Daniel B. Wheeler (Tuberale)

No specimen available

Notes:
That this is a Cortinarius is, I think, beyond question. I have tentatively keyed it out as C. prasinus. In matters Cortinarii, I have, uh, erred badly in the past, though. Would like a second opinion

There’s a cortina — quite apparent in the first photo — and the mushrooms are too young to be dropping spores yet.

Spore color?

Did you check the spore color? I don’t see any brown spores here… were there any older ones? I’m not sure the species can be named here, and I’m not convinced completely this is a Cort. Might be Cort., but it would be good to see more detail, and at least see the spore color.
