Observation 13374: Cortinarius anthracinus (Fr.) Fr.

When: 2008-11-01

Collection location: Bossy, Switzerland [Click for map]

Who: Douglas Smith (douglas)

No specimen available

Found in mixed forest of oak and spruce.

Lots of these found in the mossy beds near the roots of trees. Very common on this day. Id’ed by others that know more about the species of the area, it seems that they are easier to id than other, with the red-vinaceous colors, and small size.

your photo has the most dramatic color of any online image of this species that I could find.
