Grayish-green foliose lichen, with short black or dark brown rhizimes, mostly on major veins of reverse. Fronds are finely divided, fronds to 7mm wide, usually with a single strong vein underneath, and multiple small slightly darker green bumps on fronds. Reverse is moatly brown with green patches, but there are areas where the brown becomes nearly black.
