What about spore color? Cort has rusty-brown spores, Trich white, as I recall it.

Could also be a Tricholoma, maybe T. zelleri or similar species. Much depends on the veil here, and would need a clearer picture to be sure. Cortinarius has a cobwebby veil, Tricholoma would (usually) have a thick white veil.
