Pink flesh cap variety of A. rubescens sensu auct. amer. which I find is frequently parasitized by Hypomyces hyalinus in my area. Measurements: 1) Thickness of cap flesh above stipe: 7 mm., 2) Length of stem from bottom of cap flesh to top of bulb: 72 mm., 3) Length of bulb: 20 mm., 4) Width of stem mid-height: 11 mm., 5) Width of bulb at broadest point: 22 mm.

I didn’t notice what tree(s) these were under at the time of collection but I frequently forage in these woods which are mixed and include balsam fir, hemlock, spruce, cedar, maple, birch, and beech.
