On ground under balsam fir, birch , and hemlock. Cap 7 cm., green, sunken center. cuticle peels half way to center. Gills whitish. Stem 4 cm. × 1-1.5 cm., white, swollen base which bruises brown. No distinctive odor, taste mild to very slowly hot.
