When: 2008-11-14

Collection location: Larch Mountain, Multnomah Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]

Who: Daniel B. Wheeler (Tuberale)

No specimen available

A large Russula, I believe, that forms a cap with brown tones on the edge of the cap, quickly turning white or splotchy white with tan streaks toward the center of the funnel-shaped cap; stipe is mostly white but has large obvious scurfy scales, no sign of latex, stalk chalk-like when broken.
