Fungus is about 2 inches wide, cap splitting under many hemlock roots, cap flesh white, brittle; cap coloration maroon to fuschia, tuberculate-striate, fading to almost white at the edge; stipe white with a yellow tint (could be from humus, too), about 3 inches long. Gills white to slightly cream-colored.
