Slice across gills becoming brown. Latex scant. Taste mild to slightly sour. Small dark umbo on cap. Collected during dry weather.

I had considered L. theiogalus, which I believe may either be a member of the tabidus group, or at least related. But there was absolutely no change from white to yellow in the context. This may be on account of the almost complete lack of latex in these mushrooms; very dry weather. These were found in a forest which features lots of birch.
