Fungi is as shown: cap 2.5-2.7 inches wide, with top-knot of elevated plate-like scales, rest of cap rarely scaled to fibrilose, light gray-brown with some light blue and reddish streaks; cap 3 inches long, striate, possibly with remains of a cortina about half-way up, white to off-white with brownish and white fibers; base of stipe more pale violet. While fungus has an appearance of being well-dessicated, note the small white plate-like spots on the sides of the gills.
