Recognized by sight: now that I’ve found this mushroom a few more times, I’m pretty sure it is Pholiota alnicola; found in mixed conifer forest ~3 miles from coast where there had been a fairly recent burn.

fugacious anachnoid veil

returned to where these mushrooms were found and discovered that very young specimens (cap diam < 1cm) had arachnoid veils; am leaning toward G. flavidellus

bright cinnamon spore print. I didn’t see a veil in any of the young specimens I saw.

Did you get a rusty spore print? The stalk and gills look like a Pholiota.
