On mossy ground in mixed woods including eastern hemlock and balsam fir. Cap 19 cm. zoned orange/brown/yellow, rough, hairy, moist, bruising brown at margin. Pores olive green bruising brown, irregular, decurrent. Stem central, 3 cm. w x 4 cm. l. Flesh of cap and stem brown. No odor. Mild taste. KOH on cap black.
