Observation 14538: Agaricales sensu lato

When: 2008-11-23

Collection location: Larch Mountain, Multnomah Co., Oregon, USA [Click for map]

Who: Daniel B. Wheeler (Tuberale)

No specimen available

These very young fungi are fruiting in large clumps on rotting wood in a mixed Western hemlock/Western red-cedar stand. The lilac color of the small caps (opened knife in photo is 6 inches long) gives some indication of just how abundant this species can be.
