Observation 14671: Rhizopogon villosulus Zeller

This is what an animal excavation looks like. To the right of the photo where an animal dug this 3-inch deep pit, was a cluster of Rhizopogon villosulus, one of many species that I cultivated at Paul Bishop’s. According to Trappe et al, animals do not dig for truffles unless they are mature.
