At first I thought it was Bondarzewia berkeleyi. But the field guides all said this grows exclusively on deciduous wood. This was definitely at the base of a spruce. Also, does not look exactly right for B. berkeleyi.
Did not bruise. Smells a bit like Laetiporus to me.
