Confusing nomenclature

Dan, There are many examples of the sexual and asexual stage of Ascomycetes having different names. It has always seemed strange to me as well… So as far as I know the cup stage is Holwaya and the match sticks are Crinula.

This is tiny with the small cups (sexual stage)sometimes present as well. It is not as tough as a Xylaria.
