Initial ID based on morphology was A. jacksonii. For an undergrad DNA barcoding project, we sequenced ITS region and our result showed 99% identity with A. sp-AR01 though. Any feedback on the morphology is appreciated.

The absence of orange felted material on the stipe (judging from the photos) would be cause to be doubtful about applying the name jacksonii. I’d be very interested to see your sequence. My guess is that your BLAST match was to the sequence with GenBank accession number JX844754. This sequence was derived in a project in which I am involved. If you could send me your .ab1 files (unedited), I would be glad to see if we could get a BLAST run against all our project data whether or not it is presently submitted to GenBank. Is there any chance that I could arrange for further sequencing from your material (if it has been dried or if there is remaining DNA)? Please contact me via the MO email function if you’d like to discuss this further.

If you haven’t already done so, you could compare:

Very best,
