Observation 153477: Hygrophoraceae Lotsy

When: 2013-05-27

Collection location: Lovell, Maine, USA [Click for map]

Who: Parker V

Specimen available

Found growing from the forest floor in a Tsuga canadensis forest. Found these multiple times early in the season and they were always growing in eastern hemlock forests.

Spore print is white, spores are hyaline, have distinct hilar appendages, and are (5.7-7.4)x(3.7-4.2). Basidia are 4-spored and average 27.5×3.5. I looked at 4 different slides for cystidia and couldn’t find any. The pileipellis has clamps and could be cutis.
