odd areolate “egg” among many fruiting from exposed rock and woody roots of downed tan oak. fortunately, amanitas cooperate in their ID by continuing to grow after you pick them!
the areolate egg was perfectly round when first collected. note rocky substate…the uprooted base of a tanoak.
