I suspect that A. aculeatus, A. sphingum and A. pistlariiformis, along with their equivalents in Isaria, Cordyceps, Insecticola and Hymenostilbe, are all synonymous. Maybe Kathie or another entomopathogen person can comment further.

Hymenostilbe sphingum and Akanthomyces pistillariiformis aren’t considered synonymous?
