Observation 157321: Ascomycota Caval.-Sm.

Orange pink melon powder fruiting in burn area on stumps of palmetto at junction of stem base and central stalk. Suspect conidia/anamorph of fungus normally growing behind scales and fruiting/escaping following burn approximately 1 month ago. Sample is from small stick with 5 mm fructations – any vibration causes powder to fall off. A high percentage of burnt palmetto had this, but occurence on sticks very rare (this is only one found.)
