When: 2014-01-24

Collection location: Bruhel Point, Mendocino Co., California, USA [Click for map]

Who: Joseph D. Cohen (Joseph D. Cohen)

No specimen available

Notes:
Near lots of Suillus pungens. See observation 158496.
The several-acre habitat had abundant S. pungens, almost all of which were putrifying and disgusting. There were a fair number of Chroogomphus, almost all past their prime.
Gill cystidia were examined microscopically by Peter Werner, who reports that they were thick-walled.
