Yeah, moss on dirt, no wood, if it is damp enough this seems to be the stand. habitat for G. clavata around here (and elsewhere…). Most (90% or so) of the stuff in this habitat that looks like this that I’ve looked at turn outs to be G. clavata. (Was mis-named G. heterocystis)

The moss was growing on bare dirt, no wood.

Is this just moss, or is it moss on wood? These look a lot like the very common G. clavata.
