Arthur describes the range in “Manual of the Rusts in United States & Canada” as “Virginia to Florida on the cultivated B. halimifolia, and from central California southward to central New Mexico; also in the West Indies, Mexico and South America.”

Thanks Byrain, those photos look just like it. I wonder what the distribution is on this… it seems pretty easy to overlook. I’ll definitely be paying more attention to coyote brush, will have to check behind Unit 2.

So that’s what that stuff is!

I figured it was a Puccinia, but never got a species name for it.
It’s also on the coyotebrush above Classroom Unit 2, (and probably lots of other places where it’s host grows)

I’ve been looking at every single coyote brush I see for this.
