When: 2014-01-09

Collection location: Decatur, Alabama, USA [Click for map]

No specimen available

In a low lying area of woods near a periodically flooded reservoir, the forest comprised of Water Oak, Willow Oak, Hackberry, and Loblolly Pine.

I was trying to find an ID on the crust lichen in the center. It appears to have lecanorine type apothecia, as suggested by Roy Cohutta on Flickr.

There are a couple in the area:

L. caesiorubella
L. subpallens
L. miculata

Would need chemistry or microscopy to get farther.
