Observation 160566: Corticiaceae sensu lato

When: 2014-02-28

Collection location: Victoria Beach, Manitoba, Canada [Click for map]

Who: Chris Hay (hayfield)

Specimen available

September 20, 1971
Victoria Beach
bracket fungus
F P Ralston

These are the other two sticks that were included in a collection of Steccherinum. I’m not sure if it is even fungal, or if there might be a few different kinds of molds there.

Originally I wasn’t sure if the non-toothy crust was the same as the toothy one (Irpex lacteus) or not (a weird or immature growth form or something). I propose “fungi” in regards to what covers the sticks and is not Irpex lacteus. This is what I mean this observation to be on.

The bottom of the third photo is Irpex lacteus. The upper part and the first 2 photos are some unrelated crust fungus that would need microscopic characters checked.

Sorry, either I uploaded the wrong cover photo or it decided to switch to another one while uploading. I think this might be part of a mixed collection. Please see the other half here:
