It does look like a pileipellis made up of long, filamentous cells although it is hard to tell the exact orientation of the hyphae

If you send this over I can have a closer look, whatever it is I do not think it has been reported in the US before

the gills on yours look like they might be colored differently as well.

the external aspect of the cap suggests section Hispidoderma, any chance we can get a micro image of the pileipellis to be sure?

there are few species in section Hispidoderma with this bright orange-red colors; only two come to mind P. aurantiopustulatus described from Africa and P. rubrotomentosus described from South America
