Growing on a fallen branch in Zone 03, with snow still(!) on the ground nearby despite the date in late April.

Tree species present in the vicinity include Pinus strobus, P. resinosa, Betula papyrifera, B. allegheniensis, and Acer saccharum.

There were several dotted along the length of the branch. The second photo is up from beneath.

is that Auricularia auricula-judae is rare or not in North America. Auricularia americana is likely especially if it was on conifer wood.
