With volva, patches on cap, pointed root.


Something or someone had carefully removed the cap and placed on the ground near the stipe. White spore print visible on moss in photo.
Stipe is scaley above and below annulus. Volva is constricted.
Part of the volva had already been carefully peeled down, exposing the scales on the lower stipe. The rest of the volva is tightly compressed to the stipe.
Portion of volva was already peeled back from the stipe and folded downward.
Outside of volva is covered with dirt and humus.
