Terrestrial fungus, growing among spent leaves, twigs, and branches. Light brown free or adnexed gills; cap yellow-brown in center, surrounded by dark brown halo, then cream for most of cap, and mixed cream and tan on cap edges; stipe is white and scruffy with tiny white scales. Fungus is 3 inches tall (7.5cm) and 1 inch wide at cap (2.5 cm). Notice 90 degree turn at base of stipe. Could have been growing from buried wood, but didn’t pull any up.
