Growing on old-growth Black cottonwood (about 4 feet diameter), seen from across a small gully. Sporocarp is approximately 24 inches (55 cm) across. Brown spore mass on top of fungi.


In situ. This was the closest I could get.

Bigleaf maple leafs on left appear close to fungi, but aren’t. They were growing from my side of the gully, not the other side. Note Vine maple in back of fungus.
