Granny Smith apple-green thallus surface with some widely black areas, spots, and raised pimples; black reverse. Rather beautiful lichen.

I tried to show the black underside with my fingernail. Then saw the wide band of black over the thallus. Thallus closely appressed to substrate here. Where did the black band come from?
