Peridium smooth, yellow brown, staining pink/vinaceous when bruised. Gleba whistish with white threads when young, with vinaceous stains. Almost sessile. Gleba vinaceous/purple when old, yellow near the peridium. Near Cedrus atlantica in a garden.

above the ground or at least half of the fruity body. I still think they are all Scleroderma cepa.

that Cedrus atlantica forms mycorrhizae with Tuber, Elsa. At least 3 species, including T. melanosporum, T. uncinatum, and T. albidum. Scleroderma is also mycorrhizal. Formation of mycorrhizae with C. atlantica uncertain.

All above ground? Tuber rarely has the need or excess moisture necessary to fruit above ground.

The “white threads” are veins, Elsa. Part of what we call “venae internae” or interior veins. Tuber usually has these on the peridium, as well. But sometimes they are obscured by what appear to be cracks on the peridium.

Tuber would also be mycorrhizal. I don’t know of any mycorrhizal fungi with Atlantic cedar. Many cedars will not form any mycorrhizae at all. Any other possible mycorrhizal hosts?

The first ones

correspond to the white gleba and seem to be Scleroderma. The second 2, correspond to the darker gleba, they were some cms apart from the others, in fact I was in doubt, because gleba has some yellow on it and the peridium is darker. But I thought it was older.

One is definately Scleroderma, probably S. cepa.

The other I’m not so certain of. Can you go back and collect more? I suspect you may have a Tuber mixed in that cluster of Sclerodermas. The difference? The peridium (outer shell) is much thinner, has interior veins that go to the peridium, if not through it. Need to collect the base as well, as Scleroderma should have a basal tuft of mycelium, which is easily broken. But Tuber does not.
