Growing out of wet moss in mixed woods that include spruce, balsam fir, and birch. Cap up to 4 cm yellow orange to brown when wet, yellowish fibrils, umbo in age. Yellow gills and yellow cortina in button stage, gills becoming mottled then brown. Stem color of cap with darker fibrils, equal, hollow, up to 8 cm x 5mm. Radish odor. KOH on cap surface reddish black. Rusty brown spore deposit.
