Came to the given name through the field guide. States that Marasmius capillaris is a look alike but they grow primarily on oak leaves. These were growing on wood.

Collar around the stipe

The main character to look for on these is the collar around the stipe, the gills don’t grow to the stipe, but to a collar around the stipe. I have some photos of this on the other M. rotula obs. here.
