On ground in grass and gravel pathway (boat put-in) at edge of mixed woods—mostly spruce, balsam fir and birch. Cap up to 2.5 cm., scaly/hairy. Stem 2 cm. × 3 mm, hollow, paler at apex. Non mushroomy odor. Brown spore deposit.
